Summers Children

Summers Children

A Story by Dan Moore
"

I had to kill a deer but I was too soft.

"
I witnessed it, a four legged creature with antlers eating.
Exhaling deep, I aimed my rifle at him.
sweaty palms shaking the gun uncontrollably.
A measly animal,
Nothing more but food,
I must kill.
Shutting both eyes.
A boom like thunder crackled shaking the forest.
Birds scattered from overhead
The buck...
Perished behind a nearby tree
A low growl escapes my stomach.
I'm ignorant.
