Howl

Howl

A Chapter by Wondering Mind
"

A desert song

"

oh that I would fill
with your emptiness
so I may find myself
within
and heat may bleach the  heart
from all dismay
of yesterday
hence howl for tomorrow’s hope
to notes
of your night

Yes, I was out desert camping for a couple of nights. It's a gene thing, I think.
Where the streets have no name...

one could really lose themselves to the seemingly vast nothingness of the desert. a place where soul searching is possible, or epiphanies, or cleansing one's mind to start anew the next day.

I can't get past the first four lines without being stunned by the sheer beauty of that thought, then stanza two comes with pure powerhouse, and then three has me howling with the brother pack to this woeful song of the moon!

I really like this, very good read. Different, not what I would expect. I like that.

Never been to the desert, but I have felt it's drought. As you see I prefer the rain :) For it's clarity...I am glad you spent the night, and shared it so vividly!

Your desert camping has given birth to primal poetry--a sweet song springing from strong ancient stirrings.
Who has not wanted to blot out "all dismay of yesterday" in order to "howl for tomorrow's hope?"
I certainly have; I just never said it so well.

To hear a howl in the desert night would be eerie, haunting and mysterious...it can also be very romantic and wistful. This has a sense of finding clarity, a cleansing of the soul. Hopeful. Beautiful write.
