vanity is vain no matter how you slice it. everyone has a degree of vanity in themselves, even the most modest person.

I took this to mean more of whatever we see in others we don't like means we should take a closer look at ourselves...of course I could be wrong, have been before.

Oh... I love this one. I had a client that couldn't pass a mirror without looking at herself. She was beautiful but her vanity made her ugly. She had a heart of stone too. Great poem.
