Winter Waits

Every Year

 

Winter waits while Time runs free

                    Winds hum a lullaby and sing

White sheets on each and every tree

                That sleeps and dreams of spring

Snow flakes sway to crispy tunes

                   Falling to hide footprints’ tales

Green hills turn to virgin dunes

                    Smoothed by storms and gales

A new year laments an old one

                        With hope for Nature’s smile

While night teases the day’s sun

                     As it walks sky’s ancient aisle

The mind beholds in wonder and stands

Such scenes painted by Heavenly Hands

The line "the new year laments an old one" reminds me of Hardy's "the darkling thrush" ... Lovely, as always. you capture some beautiful imagery.

i don't mind time's freedom. it's just the too fast speed at which it runs.
