It is as it is

he is for her and

you see, she is his

so, why the why? I ask

and why the old how?

for, it is as it is

two sum up to one in a vow

Wow! Do you realize how extraordinary this is? You have managed, in powerful brevity, to elicit emotions of such helpless inevitability that my breath catches in my throat. Saddest of all is the resignation in the last line.
