The Land of Dreams

The Land of Dreams

A Chapter by Wondering Mind

the sea;
her waves caressed
these old forgotten shores.
gently,
she wiped away
abandoned footprints
where love once walked

the wind;
her soft whispers blew
a cool summer breeze
soothingly
dancing with blossoms
of my tender emotions

the moon;
her face cast
a soft, dreamy glow
on the canvas
of my open heart

the night;
she sang a lullaby
gracefully
sending my mind
to far away lands
of beautiful dreams

Your words provided such a soothing, dreamy departure that I felt myself blink at the last word ~ surprised to find myself . . . well, . . . where I am. How each element of nature's glory set the mind to absolute peace is brilliant. "the sea;/her waves caressed/these old forgotten shores." Yes, you had me at the first line.

Beautifully done. A place I would love to wander to most often. Thank you for this.

O lovely... what impressions this left me with, what memories of my own it evoked, what poignancy in these words, what sadness in those washed away love-footprints... a sense of time having passed irretrievably, and with it something precious, remembered here, but linked to a sense of self that has dissolved irretrievably... forgotten, abandoned... time has slipped away and a life lengthens into aloneness, sadness and the vulnerability that loss leaves us with held in a framework of silent acceptance and melancholic beauty...

This is an absolutely lovely poem so soothing to read with its gentle rhythm. I am hard pressed to name a favorite stanza, as I often do, as each is so wonderful how could I possibly choose? The imagery transports you to a dreamy place where it is quite appropriate to linger. Very well written and truly enjoyed!

you have an amazing style of writing. it's soft and mellow and sweet. kind of in the way of a romantic sonnet or love song.

the night;
she sang a lullaby
gracefully
sending my mind
to far away lands
of beautiful dreams

such a wonderful poem!

Beautiful write... strong imagery yet such a soft feel to this, like the waves gently lapping the shore...

This is tender and precious . . .

Takes my mind to places once felt . . . once seen . . .

A beautiful poem that is a timeless treasure.

A new favorite of mine.

Oh I love this! The ocean is my favorite, and how wonderful that you've given it such life! Great work.

Outstanding. This is a very good poem-- worthy of print, so I think. Much better than the norm.
