Capitalist Blues

Capitalist Blues

A Poem by Pepper
"

I don't know. I'm hungry and currently cost less than a keurig

"

I am worth less than a pair of shoes.

New seasons mean new clothing

New shoes that cost too much.

Eleven dollars to my name

I work 12 to 10

Seventy-two dollars to my name

I work for three days

Two-hundred and seventeen dollars to my name.

I buy my groceries

Cat food got more expensive

Who buys avocados for four dollars each?

No eating out this month.

One hundred and eighteen dollars to my name.

I am worth one hundred and eighteen dollars.

I am worth less than a pair of basketball shoes.

Thirty hours of my time

Worth less than shoes with a fancy name

Worth less than groceries with avocados

Worth less than a coffee maker

When I make coffee to live.

I am worth the bread aisle at the grocery store.

A single hour of my time

Is seven dollars plus a dime.

this is a work in progress and sort of a word vomit. I haven't slept since Thursday and it's Sunday now
