I Am Diamonds

I Am Diamonds

A Poem by Pepper
"

A poem about sexual abuse, for a contest. Break the silence, my friends.

"
Sticks and stones break my bones
But your hands are what have hurt me.
You have taken all that I own
From physical to figurative,
You have taken my sanity
You stole my happiness when you made
Contact.
But no longer can you destroy me.
You have oppressed, compressed me so
That I have become unbreakable.
Diamonds are a girl's best friend
And I am my own diamond.
I am unbreakable
Unscratchable
Untouchable.
I belong on pedestals,
In prized artifacts,
And not in your hands.
I am my own diamond.
I am valuable
Treasured
Loved.
