6 -Damien

i watched her walk into her house from the woods, terrified of what i will face when i go back to Alpha. i knew i was gonna be in trouble. i padded back to the meadow, dragging my paws across the soft grass. when i had brought Sadie to the pack, i was dreading their reaction to me bringing her there. i mean, they know about her, obviously, but Alpha's orders were clear. let her figure it out on her own. but i couldn't, not with her birthday a month away, and the hunters closing in. i know Steph would be waiting for her birthday to see if anything happened, and i knew the reaction she would have if something did. i didn't want Sadie to face that alone, not knowing what was happening. at least we could hold this off for now, after what Skylar did for her. we thought she would have found out when she lost her father, as the shock would have kicked everything off, but Skylar held it back for her, making the gene dormant till she was eighteen. but now the day is coming, she has to be prepared for everything. i know that if i told her everything she wouldn't understand, hell, i don't even understand all of it. i decided to just do what i could to ease her into knowing the wolves. 

i snapped out of my train of thought as i caught the scent of Alpha. i had reached the meadow. he was waiting for me at the cave entrance, ears back, and his lip raised. i could tell from here that he was pissed.

"what the HELL were you thinking?! bringing her here?! you know my orders, i made them for a reason! damn it Damien, do you ever listen to what I'm saying?" nope, i correct myself. he was SUPER pissed.

"alpha, in all fairness, she deserves to know. its her birthday in a month, she has to be prepared. you know that we have to get her out before Steph knows whats going on. she'd probably kill her right there and then! You know she'll find out soon enough! I can see it in her eyes! Please, just let me tell her" 

“No, it's too risky! It could endanger the whole pack! And her!" 

"But she's seen them, and she isn't afraid. She trusts me." 

“You went against my direct orders! I told you never to let her see you! Your job was to watch over her, until she was ready to be told the truth. But you walked out, in plain daylight, in front of her mother!" 

" I just wanted to see her. It caused no harm, she never suspected" 

"You seem to think that just because you've become her 'friend' you can dictate what she knows? You brought her to us, to our home, do you know how bad that could have gone! You saw how jack reacted!" 

"I wouldn't have let him touch her! I don't see why you let him stay anyway" 

"You know fully well why I let him stay! You dare question my actions?! You could have gotten yourself or her killed! All because you wanted to see her?!" 

"I just know how much you want her to join us. She's ready, I can feel it" 

"That is where you are wrong. I want her to be here, yes, but I can't force her into a life she didn't choose. I can't make her give up everything she has for something she may not even want!" 

"Please, let me show you she is ready, then will you change your mind?" 

"I will decide when she is ready...you are forbidden from seeing her" 

that was the last straw. Alpha knew that i was a dominant, and i only tolerate him ordering me, out of respect. This is not on. i growled my disapproval, and stood up, ears flat against my head.

"What?! You can't do that! I can't just leave her!" 

Alpha stood up as well, trying to be taller than me, but failed. he stared me straight in my eyes, as a challenge. i didn't look away.

"Do not question me! It's my final word. She will know soon enough, but not now" 

i had to do something, or else there would be a fight, an given the circumstances, i can't afford that.

"She has seen us, in her visions. She tells me about them all the time. She's seen Nala!" 

now he looked shocked. i bet he didn't see that coming.

"...what? Are you sure?" 

"Every morning she sits with me, and tells me about her visions" 

"Does she suspect they aren't dreams??" 

"No, for now. You know she can probably see us right now? Let me show her, and then you'll know if she can handle it -" 

a snarl erupted from Alpha, and through that noise he managed to growl out,

"No! It's too risky." 

"Then let her work it out for herself, she's smart, she'll guess soon enough. I'm surprised she doesn't know already." 

"Fine. But if I find out you have told her..." 

"I promise alpha, I won't. You have my word." 

"Very well. She will learn for herself. But you are still forbidden to see her" 

"No! Please, she needs me. I can help her, please alpha" 

“My word is final. If I hear about you visiting her again, there will be severe consequences! Am I understood?!" 

i could see that he wasn't going to let this slip, so i put on my best 'submissive face' let my tail drop, and said,"Yes alpha".

i turned away, and walked in the direction of my house, hoping to turn off before i get there. i knew alpha would go back to his house on the other side of the ridge, so i had plenty of time before he found out. and when he did, he'd probably have my throat. i know I'm risking everything by doing this, but i just had to do it. for Sadie's sake, for the pack's sake, for my sake.

tonight, she will know everything.
