A Chapter by Wolfwhisperer

i could smell the blood through the glass. it smelt sweet, like fresh nectar, wit ha hint of meadow wildflowers. it was a beautiful fragrance; too bad it came from something so dangerous. i saw her staring at the blood as it fell, and her eyes glazed over, as if she was seeing something that wasn't the scene in front of her. i knew what it was, but i highly doubted that she knew that they were visions. after all, she doesn't even know about us, so how the hell would she know about the powers?

i was on the edge of the forest, and although i could see her clearly from here, i had an unexplainable urge to get closer. slowly, i padded across her backyard, taking each step with caution in case i caught her off guard and she panicked. i don't even know if she remembers me, but i definitely remember her. how could i not? especially with the constant reminders of her, everyday in the pack. jack paid dearly for what he did to her, and got a few gashes along his side from me....not to mention the alpha.

i heard her mum yelling at her from upstairs, and i could make out the thump as she walked down the steps and into the room. i froze. Steph would kill me if she saw me, and she wouldn't even think twice about it. luckily she walked out quickly enough, and i started to walk up again. i reached the porch, and my claws clicked against the wooden panelling. Sadie was sweeping up the glass on the floor, and i could only stare at her. she was still as beautiful as she had been all those years ago, except now she wasnt a little girl, she was a young woman. her dark red hair swung down to her waist in flicks, and she was slender, but also hinted at toned muscles under her alabaster skin. i huffed (well wolves cant really sigh can they?) and she looked up, and froze to the spot. so did i. those eyes, damn those eyes! they were like liquid amber, with tiny flecks of silver in them. they captivated my attention, and i couldnt look away. it looks like she saw my eyes too, and i dont know if i had imagined it, but a flicker of recognition flashed across her face, before she glazed over again, and i knew she was remembering that day, ten years ago, that jack attacked her, i saved her, and her father and brothers went missing. i knew what had happened to them, of course, but she doesnt. and its best kept that way untill she knows everything. pain crossed her face as she remembered what happened, and i felt so ashamed that i hadnt got there sooner to save her. i hadnt heard her until it was too late. it is something i will never forgive myself for.she came out of her 'zone' and she gave me a slight smile. my tail wagged in response. i saw her lift her hand up to the glass, and place it there, leaving it. lifting my weight onto my other leg, i reciprocated, and i saw the shock in her eyes as i placed my paw against the glass next to her hand.
sadly, this peace didnt last long. steph had seen me, and ran to get a gun. i heard her speaking to sadie, but i didnt want to give it away that i heard and understood, so i waited, mainly out of curiosity, to see what sadie would do. she was an image of fear, and i realised, the fear wasnt for herself, but fear for me. she stood up and opened the door; i backed up a bit to give her room, and she said "Go! She's got a gun, and she'll use it if you don't go! " it was all i needed to hear, so i turned around and ran to the forest, knowing that if steph fired that gun, it was highly unlikely that she would miss. i stopped at the treeline, to look at her one more time, and i heard her whisper her thanks for saving her. i had to reply. the alpha would kill me, but i just had to. i raised my head and howled my thanks to her, and my goodbye. but i knew i would see her again, and now, theres no one to stop me.
