Innocence

Innocence

A Poem by Midnight Wolf

Innocence is a rosebud
Emerging into bloom
As the child continues to shut her eyes
Enclosed in her petaled cocoon

The dark despair that surrounds the world
Will never cross her face
As protective thorns begin to grow
To hold her youth in place

The rose's beauty remains consistent
Through its lifetime in the Spring
While the sheltered child continues
To see the good in everything

But the time will eventually come
That the rose withers and dies
Leaving the confused and clueless child
To finally open her eyes

The imagery is beautiful. It perfectly portrays the shield innocence and naivety creates.

This is abeautiful piece of work. What i like the most about this poem is that you showed a concept of life pertaining to how innocence protects a child from the world's cruelty. And you showed it in such beautiful imagery.
