Invisibility

Invisibility

A Poem by Midnight Wolf

Oh, if thing still were
The way they were before
When popularity seemed
The worst to endure
Oh, how I wish
For those days again
The days when invisibility
Was my one and only friend

To hide from the world
All that goes wrong
To express yourself openly
Through poetry or song
" Ya don't know what ya got
Til it's gone" they always say
As you're wishing for the past
To overcome another day

Being the one in your life
That knows you the most
Can be great at times
But never enough to boast
To be the only person
Who really knows you at all
Is such a painful thing
Like being rammed into a wall

Seeking someone who understands
The aspects of your life
Is like finding a dull spot
On a razor-sharp knife
But if in some great fortune
This person does come
You may soon realize
They can only empathize some

The disappointment and frustration
You are trying to hide
In an attempt to stay invisible
Remains bottled up inside
Only to appear
In the worst of places
And even worse, around
The most familiar of faces

All the guilt and pain you feel
Makes everything more inevitable
All because you wanted
To go back to being invisible
