When I See You Again

Dedicated to Eric E. who passed 6/18/06. This poem was written the week of his passing.

It has been a long time, 

Since I have seen your face. 

Heard you speak words, 

Or come over to my place. 

When and the way you left, 

It was so sudden.

I wasn't able to say goodbye, 

And no one saw it comin'. 

You took with you, my heart, 

Now there is just this void. 

In time, it will heal, 

But you are someone my thoughts cannot avoid. 

It hurt me when you left, 

But I don't blame you at all. 

No one knew what was in God's plan for you, 

He was the one to make that call. 

So when I see you again,

It will be like old times. 

Laughing and joking together as friends, 

As we exist beyond time.

It is hard to lose friends and anyone. That leaves gaps in our souls...A well written tribute...:)

Thank you Sami. Yes it is hard to lose people in life, though writing these poems certainly helped me grieve then move on. They were very therapeutic. :-)
