Rainbows

Just an LGBTQ+ poem, but more of a story in a poem format.

I feel...

different

My friends are

obsessed with boys,

but when they ask

me who I like..

I feel a crushing weight

on my chest.

What is

love?

Is it liking

the other gender?

I guess I

don't love.

But,

every time

I look at my

best friend,

My heart flutters.

Am I supposed to

feel this?

Is there something

wrong with me?

It doesn't feel wrong.....

I tell her.

She laughs at me

and tells me that

I was joking.

I cry.

Over and

over and

over again.

The next day

a girl

approaches me.

She says she saw

me telling

my best friend.

I beg her

not to tell anyone.

She says that's

not why she came

up to me.

She tells me

about rainbows.

How everyone likes

a different color,

and she likes

the same color as me.

The poems I write don't usually rhyme so just don't expect anything.

I think this is quite a good piece of writing from the heart and soul.
Love is love...it doesn't matter the gender combination, what matters is that two hearts connect.
Rainbows are beautiful.

And you write free verse, poetry does not have to rhyme...

As someone who is apart of LGBTQIA+, I truly feel this poem. It's a community you can always turn to. I went through the phase also of thinking it was "wrong". It's not, don't worry. You are your own amazing individual. I'm so glad you accepted your true self. Keep writing -Kay

Well, mores can be a b***h. What is right for any individual is a personal choice. Society's pressures, though, can make that choice a difficult one.
