Life After DeathA Story by witchiekatezThis is an assignment given by one of our student teachers in english. This is supposed to be a panel discussion and this is what I wrote. . .
Trying to make something out of the title itself seems so difficult. As we are inexperienced students having confronted by one of the biggest questions in life, the answer is not likely to place itself automatically. First, we had to stay quite for a while and try to find the answer in ourselves. Could it be possible to have life after death? Is there neither really heaven nor hell? What is really the answer? Then it clicked. The question itself would be the answer.
As mere humans on Earth, we live in the satisfaction of our lives. We live life for what it is and sometimes, even forgot the meaning of it. As generations goes on, so are people. We begin to change and sometimes the change is not all about possibilities of a better world but another world of nightmares. Nightmares that is inevitable in everyone- The taste of sin.
When we had first flavored sin in our lives, we became so enamored and new to it that we eventually neglect it and after sometime, when it visited us again we repeat the same routine of ignoring until it overcomes us and that separates us from the One. Thinking that there are still “tomorrows” to repent and change. But what if tomorrow never comes? What if we only had one last day to spend our life? Will it be enough to compensate all the damages we have done in our entire life while we are still living? No. So what if we died today, will there be another chance, another world, another life after the first existence we once led? Plausibly. But what lies ahead, we never knew.
God is full of goodness that He who loves us so much entrusted us with His wonder that He shaped us through His own image. He blew breath to us by giving us souls and the promise to live with Him eternally when the moment comes. By then, we are given the chance to live our life the way we wanted it to be. We were given minds to decide decisions and take full tread of our lives. Whether we will meet His promise or not, it is by the life we led while on Earth. However, God is indeed full of compassion that he sent to us His one and only son, Jesus, to make certain we will reside with him eternally in Paradise. But salvation alone, although given free is not enough to free us from our sins when we don’t fully realize it. If God says that He will bring act to judgment, He will. We never knew His method but frankly, that shouldn’t bother us. What ought to bother us is that He will do it! Somehow, in God’s own timing and in God’s own way, He will cause there to be a replay to our lives. It makes a lot of sense that the One who made us has every right to hold us accountable.
We cannot live the life of irresponsible humans and get away with it. We aren’t free to run wild and wink in God’s direction, thinking that the big Teddy Bear in the sky will yawn, put us on the head and say, “Everything is just going to be fine.” No. It doesn’t work like that. Our ragged-edge journey is headed for a sudden stop. And all alone, standing face to face with God in that epochal moment, we will give account of the life we have lived.
True. There is life after death, the mystery of it remains a mystery, and what is ahead is
inconceivable .
