Forever Friends

Forever Friends

A Poem by Dean Allen Choate (aka D. A. Choate)

Forever Friends

I've never gazed deep
Into your beautiful eyes,
Walked holding your hand
Under sun lit skies.

Kissed your face filled with laughter
Or wet with tears,
In good times and bad times
Only true friends can share.

Nor heard you whisper my name
While holding me so tight,
As day slowly fades
Into star filled night.

Never caressed your brow
Watching you dream,
Your body softly bathed
In pale moon beams.

Not in this lifetime
Tho I know 'tis true,
You've known me before
As I've known you.

I feel your presence
Tho we are apart,
Filled up with your essence
Overflowing my heart.

Fate brought us together
Let us question not,
Just embrace the moment
With all that we've got.

This bond that is between us
Doesn't need a name,
Whether soulmate or friend
The yearning is the same.

On gossamer wings of angels
You come to me in dreams,
Flickering memories of other lifetimes
Dancing with those yet to be.
