They were so soft

so tender

so gentle

like the words of a dream

Seemed to silently

shed tears

cry in the rain

like the words of a dream

Poetry

is mesmerizing

intoxicating

like the words of a dream

Waiting for the sun

under the wide umbrella

watching the rain slide down

like the words of a dream.

Won't you listen, now

to the delicate flower petals sing

and to the birds who chirp in the trees

like the words of a dream.

If I could say one word to you

about the words of a dream

I'd say

"Poetry."
