Who Is Your Maker?

Who Is Your Maker?

A Poem by Wiracocha

Who is your maker?

The hiss of reptiles,

Do you consider them the covenant of cultures, of cities?

The susurrations in the gutter,

Aliens gawping and critiquing the mannequins?

The rats on your ankles,

Nipping and clipping your skin?

Who is your maker?

You, the b***h in the corner,

Whimpering for a sweetener on your mould?

A snake squirming at the mirror,

Weeping at its wet linoleum skin,

It spits venom

on our faces and toes.

Who is your maker?

An unyielding heart,

Its notions happiness and faith,

An enduring will,

wielding the warmest of crowns,

A undaunted bawl,

and a grip shattering the irons.

Welcome to sovereign self.
