Found and Lost

Found and Lost

A Story by Young Widow’s Muse

You were in my dream last night. You weren’t dead, just had been lost all this time and you found your way home. I accepted this without question and embraced you with joy, kissing your body, inhaling your very being. The tilted deck on the ship I now sail was righted for one brief moment. My soul was at peace. How good it felt to hug you, to know that my love was back. Contentment seeped through my slumbering body.
You told me to keep telling you I love you. I woke up desperate to text you, in a frenzy to find my phone to tell you the words. I thought you were at work and if I did not text you a simple “I love you”, you would be lost again. The fog of sleep lifted, wiped clean by the realization that you weren’t simply lost, just gone somewhere I cannot follow.
