In thoughtA Poem by Jeannine WinklaarI tranlated this poem in English from my original poem in Dutch: 'Gedachtestroom' published in May 2015 by de Haarlemse Dichtlijn in the poetry book: 'Verder is alles rust'.We stride, strolling at each others side left the river flows towards us we walk against the stream, the stream of thought that passes in silence
Composure that stops every word that wants to urge it's way out of my throat, emptiness, that falls like a snare and chokes You talk of her as if it's so ordinary...
But we left her just, there under whimstone, amongst flowers. You smile at the thought of her nasty habit, a family trade, are you at peace with it now?
I should fire off cannons, push you under water scream the silence away. We keep strolling next to each other, within me flows lava and you laugh, you roar, further there's only peace... © 2015 Jeannine Winklaar |
