A Poem by Jeannine Winklaar

Searing across the sky, high up I go

where birds and clouds are joined

in harmony  There is no escaping

your view, you mighty creature of

the earth, you who stand alone facing

danger, not at all afraid of damage

feet firmly resting on flat ground

I envy your might and power, your

expression of courage and fearless attire

yet when I rest my head on your shoulders

and feel your warm embrace, my anger and

anguish vanish and I am peaceful again

Dear friend I fail to tell you, a longing

deep inside, of days sitting at your side

contemplating the clear blue sky, of

hours passing, fading away in morning

mist, and dew evaporating when streaks

of sunshine looks down upon your toes

I fail to tell you how I miss running my

fingers up and down your spine, feeling

your skin soft as feathers, figuring out your

years in time  Did I mention missing you entirely

when I'm not at your side ?  Wondering if you too

are longing for our reunion from time to time
