New life

New life

A Poem by Jeannine Winklaar

They took away our bench and
we replaced it by borrowing
another just around the corner
where Sophie lays...

It was our resting spot
whenever we were visiting
her, born 7th of January
expired just two weeks later

Sitting in the sun on the bench
snow melting away at our seams
we expect our impulses to take
us away, uplift us to another

horizon. But we remain there
quietly, contemplating life
