Sunset

A Poem by Christopher 'Windstorm' Kells

Sunset

Dragons of old battling dragons of new

Each trying to take over the sky

Dragons of new, protecting the life giver

Alas they’re losing, giving a struggled cry

Yet, this is a forever chase of light and dark

Some get hurt, yet scare us humans with a fly-by

Colors of stunning effect reflect off of scaled bodies

All these amazing hues of the rainbow

Their spectacular strong bodies flying all about

Seeing red, purple, green, blue, orange, and yellow

Dashing into the clouds their forms almost visible

Yet, the dragons of old will win rightly so

Finally dragons of new concede defeat

Twilight is past and night is openly here

Stars flicker like millions of fireflies

Yet the dragons who were defeated never shed a tear

For they gather in number to do battle once more

In the dawn the dragons of old flee in fear

The process continues into infinity

Each side wins and losses by never a tie

Every dragon is immortal

Seemingly never to take a spear and die

The life giver is always on the side of the new

But each day, they give it their all and even a retry
