The Path to self

The Path to self

A Poem by Christopher 'Windstorm' Kells

            Hiding

Attempting to dodge problems

In trouble once again

            Running

            Scared

Responsibility thrown away

Teenager fed up with beatings

            Aired

            Thoughts

Pleading for help, receiving none

Spiteful was I to him

            Sought

            Security

Scared of him, leave me alone

Not a punching bad

            Family

            Crying

None to turn to

A whim I choose to be

            Dieing

            Shame

For everything pulled

I’m not him, who am I?

            Blame

            Me

Accomplished stupid stunts

Paid for them harshly

            See

            Belief

Blowing in the wind

What happy childhood days?

            Grief

Understanding

How life went wrong

A chameleon of mistakes

            Living

            Life

Will be what I make it

Showing lovingly understanding

            Strife

            Nevermore

Disrupting lives of people

Will not raise my hand in anger

            More

            Love

I will show myself

Happiness unfound

            Above

            All

Known I have changed

For the good of all

            Call

            Punishment

Been through enough

Let life begin anew

            Amazement

            Learning

All I can to move on

Growing with wisdom

            Thinking

            Time

It’s against me and you

But live to the fullest

            Everyday!

very interesting piece. It is like little mindful glimpses of a lifetime. Darkness revealed and endured, yet to shine through and let not such pain, bring us down into the preverbial mud. To rise above. Bravo!
So true, it is not how one is brought up, but who we are and what is born inside, and the choices we make.
No matter how brutal we are treated we rise, and live and enjoy life. No one can hold us down

This is a beautiful and meaningful piece. I love the journey of self discovery that you take us on in this piece. The formatting really makes each stanza powerful and get right to the heart of it.
