What is wrong

What is wrong

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

Young man
walking in the street
walks in front of the bus.
Driver slams on the brakes.
Young man walks around
presses face against door
demands admission.
Driver refuses.
Young man
(could be a fool)
goes back up front
pretends he'll use the bike rack
hitch a ride there.
Driver: What is wrong with you?
Young man lopes off.
Bus rumbles on.

Dysfunction everywhere.

No corpse today
Tomorrow--maybe.
Each day a new chance
A chance to bite it
Take your chances.
Given the options
(What there are options?)
You're better off killing
The one thing that's yours
Yours alone for the breaking
Surprisingly fragile.

If you're lucky it's quick.

A spew of gross indecency
A verbal salvo
Hawk and whorf directed at
The passers-by.
One foot shoeless--doesn't care.
Mindless of others
Mindless of self
Life in a limbo
Of lifelessness.
Where is salvation
A ring or raft
To grasp and paddle to
Solid shores?
If one cared to . . .

Some don't care.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
