Rain

Rain

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

Unclad, that is: umbrellaless,
I walk out in the rain;
Of niggling inconvenience
I care not to complain.
Instead, I'd like to focus on
The dribble-drabble stain
That speckles every inch of earth,
That drizzles down each drain.
I like the wetness on my face:
It tends to entertain;
Distracting me from footsore woes,
It mitigates my pain.
The chief desire in a drought,
In torrent-times, the bane;
Our weather wishes vacillate--
We drive the gods insane!
This quest for pluperfection
In our lives be not in vain
As long as we can compromise
And bare our skins to rain.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
