War Forever

War Forever

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

In the midst of the sturdiest peace,
Hotheads find pretexts for war.
Is it pride, or boredom,
Or simple insanity
That drives these thugs,
With their armies in tow,
Toward their own executions?
O where are the slayers of yesteryear,
The assassins of dragons such as today's?
Ah, yes--they are leading their gentle nations
Into the hellfire maws of extinction.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
