A Poem by Wilyem Clark

Monsieur is drawing on the window:
Hot pink hearts and lipstick kisses,
With red Da Hong Pao burning through.
The message board chants LO E, LO E, LO E;
The magnetic Vs have called in sick,
And Ys make awful substitutes.
Cupid's Rout is fast upon us;
Ya better get steady, you lonesome lunks,
Either grab you a partner or despair.
This year, it's a literal masquerade:
Everyone is in disguise,
All orifices must be draped,
Except when sipping a strawless pint.
What's that you said? I cant quite hear
Through the muddle of your muffling shroud.
If only finger-signs were "in,"
Or texting didn't require a number,
I'd tell you that you're very nice,
And that I think you're kinda cute,
If only I could see your face!
What's that you said? Oh, my mistake . . .
I could have sworn you spoke to me.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
