A Poem by Wilyem Clark

Phantom bus, phantom bus,
Breeding a doubt in all of us.
Will it come or will it falter?
Could God Almighty even alter
The Schrödinger outcome: real or not?
Though on the schedule, it's only a thought,
Till, rounding the corner, it comes into sight . . .
It's real all right!

Perhaps I should explain what a phantom bus is. To me it's a Metrobus (Washington, DC) that appears on the online bus tracker as "scheduled," but the bus icon is red, which means either: 1) the vehicle's transmitter is dead, or 2) there is no bus (maintenance or personnel issue). Waiting at the stop you won't know if your ride will show up until it does... or doesn't.

I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
