Lovely DevilA Poem by Wilyem Clark
O lovely devil,
I need not speak of you; I merely think: "The time has come," And you appear! Your truck with the roll-up door in back Parks by the bus stop, And you emerge, Mercury-like, In cap with stylized wingèd emblem Stitched upon it. Fleetly you fly through my outer portal, Your arms cradling bundles of envelopes, (Most destined for the recycling bin), And with clangor and clang you unlock and swing open The tenants' array of boxes. You feed those gaping metallic mouths With the shreds of correspondence you carry, A rapid unsorting of sorts; And when that is done, then you, devil-angel, All business and busy-ness without pause, Hummingbird away to the neighboring garden. © 2021 Wilyem ClarkReviews
