Huns in Our Midst

Huns in Our Midst

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

It only takes a single one,
A homicidal little Hun
Whose mind has frayed and come undone,
To toss us into confusion.

Pray tell, how many bells should toll
To laud this latest gunning troll?
The sum bumps through the chyron-scroll:
Ten died by lead infusion.

When will the end come into sight?
It's clear these killers aren't too bright;
Who's urging them to pick a fight
With harmless, neutral strangers?

A culture that reveres the gat,
Exalts both rebel and autocrat--
Behold our incubator for that
Abhorrent breed of derangers.

You popped up on "new writing" for me today. I like the first one so much, I read 5 more. I like your style very much. You make it seem so effortless, nothing forced, conversational, insightful- but not preachy, cranky? as you mentioned in another? - maybe, but balanced well with humor. I look forward to reading more. Thanks for sharing.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
