You There

You There

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

You there,
Walking down Fourteenth Street--
If I knew you,
I'd have to tell you:
You have a pinched face;
And if I loved you,
I'd love you like a breed of dog
Appreciated for its distinctions,
And little else.
This is why writers
Need to get drunk.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
