Missed Connections

Missed Connections

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

I saw you everywhere, at all times:
Drinking boilermakers at Freddie's.
Riding the ultralong Rosslyn escalator.
In your mailman garb heading home.
On the eastbound 16 bus, texting.
Fork-twirling pasta strands at Mom's.
Composing a poem in your head.
Flying a kite on the Mall.
Shopping for shoes at Nordstrom's.
Biking past National Airport.
Crossing K Street against the light.
Biting into a Georgetown cupcake.
Milling about the Renwick Gallery.
Reading the news on a bench in the park.
Walking your dog through Del Ray.
Combing your hair in a men's room.
Skipping stones down by the ol' swimmin' hole.
Boarding a rocketship bound for Mars.

Sorry I missed you!

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
