A Poem by Wilyem Clark

I should be happy with my scaled-down life;
After all, I'm privileged:
I don't have to worry about
What shall I eat?
Where shall I sleep?
How will I survive another week?
And yet, regardless of where one falls
Along the gross spectrum of humanity,
There's always a better, more attractive option
On the far side of an invincible wall.
One must strive for it,
Or collapse in a torrent of tears.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
