Social Media

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

You'll never find me on Facebook,
Twitter, or any such
High-octane platform.
Out there the mere individual
Gets buffeted by galeforce winds
Of ridicule, perfidy, and assorted
Rancid nutmeats of deception.
Why place oneself in the path of storms?
Pseudonymity and cautious scrims
Erected to baffle the simpler villains
Increases one's chances of survival,
Of keeping integrity and sanity intact.
A wink's more effective than bellowing,
Especially if the third partying crowds
Have plugged their ears with cotton.

You'll never find me on social media.
How these people love to brag,
Their words as dirty as a rag!
O! This world is pure mania.

Lol, word of advice: Simplify your poetry. You aren't writing a college paper.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
