Crosswording Brothers

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

O handsome youth
intent not in texting
but teasing out answers
from Sunday's clues
on the train for five minutes,
how I wish I could tell you
I, too, cruciverbalize:
we're of the same sect
of puzzling priests.
But how might I break through
the diamond-tough glass
that divides us like prisoners,
each in his cell,
transparent, reflective,
mobile mullery booths
for lone meditations,
intransgressible aits?
I cannot disturb you,
nor other friends touch us;
we two are invincible.

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
