ashen fields

 

 

 

 

I sit alone as if I am fading

Invisible in the ashen fields.

My heart longs to be somewhere

to where I see myself

Clear as the new day

True to oneself’s beauty

Away from the toxicity of people’s opinion

Or as far away from my own shadow of doubt.

 

I sit alone & not running anymore.

Losing strength as the wind passes by

Losing a bit of my edge in this unreasonable persona, I face.

Yet I never give a damn as long as I kept on going

Reaching for something Unreachable,

I can only hope…

 

I want to feel the life of someone’s at arm’s reach

to feel that I am alive

I missed you.

How awesome it would be to be away from the ashen fields of a toxic, judgemental world. Even from our own self-doubting selves. Away, in a place of quite solitude with someone who reinforces and completes us, so we don't feel like running any more. Thanks for such insightful poetry Pax.

I love Greek mythology. Ashen Fields, if I remember correctly, is where the greatest souls go. Nevertheless, this a heart felt poem about loss and hope, kinda like the Church's song "Field of Mars," which is actually a graveyeard yet the narrator tries to find love within that place. Awesome write.
