the ghost

the ghost

A Poem by Pax
"

----------------------------

"

It was not me, who put you into the dark

It was not me, who put too much hate upon himself

It was not me, who made you so imperfect

Who choose this life for us?

                   It was you,

I am only a shadow in every decision.

The weak link, the forgotten will

of one’s owned heart, truly remains in the corner…

.

.

.

Simply the ghost, who whispers in total silence.

"It is always darkest before the dawn."
i see in this poem one of the predilections common to self-respecting writers - that of always doubting their paths and choices. Of course, retrospect offers us a clear view of the things we've done, but that is a pointless pastime, despite the fact that we indulge ourselves in it with masochistic pleasure. All we can assure ourselves, in regard to whatever choices we made, is whether or not we were true to ourselves, true to our convictions. A great poem, RetroPax. Keep writing.

I think a poem like this is prompted by the question 'How responsible are we for others?' and 'How do we define ourselves in relation to others?' Sometimes the relationship is ghostly, literally haunting.

I particularly like the last line, coming as a resolution or after thought.

Haunting, and it's truly saddening to watch from the shadows as the person you love deteriorates and plummets into a canyon of self-hatred and being able to do absolutely nothing about it. The grief of watching the loved one plummet is intensified by the fact that your speaker chooses to remain by her side, as a friend, always longing to help her . . . trying desperately, against the voices of her vices screaming endlessly at them.
Well done, Pax.

My pleasure :)
I like the photo. Gave life and strength to the poem. The poem had a dark and lonely feel to it. There are a lot of ghosts with us today. We forget to see them. No weakness in the excellent poetry.

Thanks my friend, its good to see you, I am glad with your visit and review...
I guess we all feel like ghosts from time to time; that everything is outside of us and we are nonessential smoke unable to change anything... At least that's what I feel from this. Really thought provoking for me, R-Pax. Great write.
