-- Lessie and her mom...

"

Mom, took me to the living room. This place took me back when I used to lived here. I can’t believe that I move out 10 years ago. Seems like yesterday and this place stays same the way I remember it. Mom, has Chinese ancestry in her, perhaps this is why our home or my used to be home has a Chinese theme in it. I remember vaguely we visited great, great, great, great grandma’s grave at Beijing city. One of the most populated city in China. I was amaze on how vast and how far away my ancestry goes from China to America to Canada. They say our grandmother give away her child to adoption during the war, because she doesn’t one his only son someday will go to war and be a soldier by demand because of the current collisions of nations.

I sat next to my mom, my tears still falling.

“Young lady, stop this crying this instant! I didn’t raise a crybaby…”

Then I smile and laugh a little by her comment. “Thanks mom…. I needed that to wake up my senses and stop being so sensitive all the time. I wonder why this past few days I cry so easily with just a simple thought of disappointing you guys.”

“Hey, hey… You are not a disappointment to me. You’re the one and only precious to me. And so far you never did disappoint me. Even the cancelled engagement. And to be honest I was happy that you turned it down. Because you were never really happy with that guy. There is only been one guy you always looks forward to as a husband. I knew all along. You’ve been hiding the hurt look in your eyes when Bone took too many girls. And You’ve been hiding here when you two fought. There’s also the time when Bone introduces to us his fiancé, that you locked yourself up into your old room here all week. Then suddenly you’re okay. Your father was totally clueless of the event because he was too busy on the business going low. Now you are bearing it and also now your father knows the real reason you cancelled the engagement. Child, don’t bear it all. I am here, I’ll help you with your father yet in one condition…”

“Mom…” I exclaim.

“Just a little condition, sweet pie. It is nothing much, just legalized your affair.”

“What!!!”

“Yeah, you heard me young lady. I don’t like sex outside marriage, despite the new age now a days. I still like the old ways.”

“But mom…”

“I know… Bone is an elusive fella. He doesn’t believe in forever nor true love. And in fact his totally blind of your love for several years now. And until now he still doesn’t get you. It was as clear as day last night that you totally love him, but still he can’t see that fact. I will bind him through paper. Also he was just drawn to the Cassandra girl because of her innocence and pure beauty. And I am sure he really doesn’t love her that much. I know that child since he was young. He was just broken hearted because the girl he chase falls in love with his little brother. Like a child who loses his fancy trophy. His pride was hurt a bit at that time, but he will get over it.  So for now, no fancy wedding announcement nor big wedding to happen. Just close family members only. Until he realized his full feeling for you, then that’s the time we plan the big wedding.”

“A bit! Really Mom! I was there in Rio, he was totally wasted when Cassandra broke his heart. I think he is still in love with her.”

“Child, I know Bone has hidden feelings for you. He doesn’t notice it, or even see it clearly. I know how he looks at you sometimes when you are not looking. The way he cares for you is much different from a siblings love or even a best friends love. You both love each other long ago, without noticing in each sides of the party. Or atleast you know your feelings and Bone doesn’t. He was just too preoccupied in treating you as his little sister and their business. He had gone a lot of hard work at a very young age. Losing your parents is hard, that is one thing, and losing your childhood is another thing, just to take care of your brother. I’ve seen how he carries the burden a parent should have, but didn’t because they passed away too early. I was there how my brother took the place of his parents. You didn’t know this but, my brother harbors unrequited feelings to Bone’s mother. You know all too well that his mother was my best friend since highschool. And through me they become friends, and my brother develops feelings for her, yet to her it was just friendship, nothing more nothing less. I was there when she found her husband to be. I was there in her happiest moment, also I was there to my brothers saddest moments. It was a mixed feeling for me. Still we all accept it like life is never a fairytale. Until then my brother never marry. I was sadden by this, but then I just accept it and our parent was really frustrated by it.”

A tear falls from her eyes as mom relying the story and I said “Wait, wait mom, you mean, uncle Tom, never marry because of this. And that is why he took care of them when Bone’s parents passed away.”

“Yes… You know, your grandfather was too eager bind him into marriage but it never happened. Though he gone through many relationship just to forget her, all was just short time bases. Or was a monthly bases until he lost interest and drop them all together when Bone’s parents passed away.”

“I didn’t knew Uncle Tom’s life was like this. He seems okay to me. Handling Bone and Spine so well that I didn’t see that sad part of his story.”

“Yes, that was the main reason why he took both of them into his care. He was always there for them. He even got a job in their company, just to stay closed to her. I never fully understood his love or how he love. I guess all his life there was just this one girl in mind.”

“You know, Your uncle Tom, is a very strong person. He handles his problems well enough for everyone not to see he struggles, even my parents didn’t see that. But I knew the story, I just respected all his decision. Because he was still my big brother. You know fate has a twisted taste. The story between my brother and my best friend didn’t work out. But the children of both families finds its way to continue their love that never started. I never would have guess that one of my child loves the same way, the way your uncle loves my best friend. Their story might not have come true in terms of love, yet the next generation continues the storyline like how it should be. I’ll make sure the unrequited love like before never happens again to you.”

“But Mom. A shot-gun wedding. You’ll force him to marry me. Mom, I don’t want to be unfair. And to think he is still starting his music career. Being single is good for that kind of business. Girls will pile up for the album from his looks alone. No one will buy a married man’s album.”

“Hmnnn… I think you have a point. But still, he started this and still want to continue based on his words yesterday. He will come back again to you. I am sure of it. And I know how persuasive he is, and I know how weak you are to resist him. Walls easily crumbled when a person knows everything about you. I witness it before, your just like a pup who keeps tailing his master.”

“Mom… I can’t believe that you know all this. Perhaps I was too preoccupied with his everything that I forgot to hide my feelings from you. You know me so well mom. Yet I am not so sure about your plan. I don’t want to legally bind someone’s will just because of sex.”

“Sex is not something you get easily my dear child. We don’t do sex because we wanted to, we have sex because love is there, the sparks of feelings is there. Sex is a form on how we show our love to a person. And I am sure Bone doesn’t see it this way, for now... But I am sure he is slowly realizing his feelings for you.”

haha, the mom would want a shotgun wedding, lol, somethings never change, even in a world where sex is so freely given away, I love that chivarly is alive in your story, there is not enough of that in this world anymore, and the back drop story about the Uncle was beautiful, sad, and for some people really does still happen. I am as enthralled as ever, I saved it to my favorites on my browser so that I can find and follow it easier. Thank you Paxie :) please dont make me wait another six months, lol.
