The day I stop dreaming

The day I stop dreaming

The day I stop dreaming

is when I started my progress…

I never really understood why, oh why

do we have to start a living?

In the city of progress, I became the mindless puppet

Of what we call ‘the clichés of society

FOR NOW - I’m totally blind in all five senses

to where my love should be place in…

From a specific today, I am robbed for my silence

Totally alone never wanted nor even needed

Conceivably A misplaced person in a ‘crazy world

     - or it is just me who thinks that way or this way.

Sometimes I would think no one would ever really captured

                          - ‘the essence of my heart

Or probably it was just me, who never did take noticed.

Guessing I am too

  - Perverse to feel anything within the walls of my five senses.

Despite everything else, I understood how society lives by.

The imaginable ways it burdens and pleasure in -

Giving " Receiving " Showing -  us how life works in their walls.

I could never blame how our world becomes a harsh place,

Yet I could took the blame on US

or our humanity is too faulty consecutively.

Too many Securities from any Insecurities.

Walls upon Wall of their Owning Glory,

      Almost nothing is free.

So I stand chained from cultural responsibilities,

for we were made to think this way.

Ashamed of what I discovered

So I hide in the covers of my pen

To write, just write,

A written voice for the fallen..

“So I stand chained from cultural responsibilities, for we were made to think this way.”

This piece is like a confessional poetry pax. My take is that if we want to live in comfort, we must also bear the corresponding sacrifice. After all, there’s nothing free in this world anymore (unless of course, if we want to live in the boondocks and completely isolate ourselves from the rest of the world). What I observe in our culture is that we sometimes set aside our dreams to give priority to what we perceive as greater/nobler purpose: the welfare of our loved ones.

everytime I read you , you become more profound in what you have to share, I wish you wouldnot be so hard on yourself at times, this poem, confessional, was so extremely well written, especially writing in a language that is not native to you, you still express a depth that many of us would love to possess.

I'm glad you shared your thoughts my friend, thank you very much...
The first line was the best I think. The rest of the poem was the masterpiece that followed. Good work kid, you really explained what most people wouldn't dare to say and great picture.

I really felt this piece... being a dreamer for so long, having to pull my head and heart out of the clouds and start the mundane process everyday, over and over again, would bring me into this realm of thinking. Wondering why we do ...what we do? What is the purpose of working just to pay bills and survive, but barely live? Feeling like I disappeared in the process of becoming an adult and taking on responsibilities. Having no time to explore the world. To ponder the mysteries of life...or capture the beauty of everything around us. How the monotony takes away your creativity and individualism, blends you into society, almost making you invisible. You painted this word picture very well, it spoke to me deeply. Wonderful work poet!

haha, :), your always welcome to come by anytime...
We have sacrificed too much and isolated ourselves more. Our freedoms get lost along the way, constricting us further that we lose who we are or what we want to become for the sake of others. Greatly expressed piece.

Kumusta po, Kuya Pax?
Sometimes, it takes a bit of ennui and dissatisfaction to bring us out of our comfort zones, if you would indeed deem this as a comfort zone, although it feels not.
The question then arises: Do we grumble? Do fall into a deeper pit of despair or do we try to figure out how to transform our reality such that the world is exciting and challenging again?

We dream because we can, we live beacause we have to, we love beacause we chose to, we progress beacause we need to, we blame for we aught to(ourselves or the unjust ones), we rise and fall for we intend to, we think for we exist to, we pen for we feel to, we learn and be ignorant for we aim to, we believe and doubt when we question to, we gain and lose pleasure when we desire to, we hide and run when we we are fearful to, we pain and suffer when we sacrifice to, we hold responsibilities for we are stewarded to. Just few of the inspirations your wonderful poem inspired me. Excellent...:).....

RetroPax, I think you were born to be a dreamer. But you have to live in the real world with all his harse textures and rough edges. You have to learn to flow with it, not stand against it.

Thank you Marie, sigh... that is really a good advice, I am always grateful with this....
I think life ends when a man stops from breathing and also when he stops from dreaming.
What will keep us moving if we no longer have holds to aspirations, to hope...

Another thing is that, we can never deny the fact that we live in a world that is and will forever be hostile or indifferent towards us, but we always have choices. Either be absurd to submit selves to that truth about our world which make us remove any reason for living or take the responsibility of giving own meaning in spite of many obstacles and distractions including despair, angst, absurdity, death....

We always have choices, we only need to see and understand them.
