You know, this is really quite spot on. Of course, being an artist does take innate "talent" and "skill", but those are just the "tools" that we use, if there is no heart in the final product, then it is but a flat representation of the truth, and thus there is no real beauty to latch on to. Poetry and painting (so closely linked) are two crafts that I believe take the most "heart" in terms of what you have said here. Well done and thought provoking.

a love of poetry is what draws us together here on writers café, something that no one can take away from us. this is beautifully presented and I do so agree with what you have said, if you don't love poetry, if you don't live and die for it in your heart you will never be any good or worth reading. you have a lot of talent my friend to write something this simple and this beautiful. fantastic.
