yes, wonderful philosophical quote! There is something out of nothing, or even as i was thinking when I was little - nothing is Something -as the word still exists, and opposite, something Is nothing. they are like yin and yan, always melting one into another...very truth, Pax.
Primarily in philosophy, it is creation out of nothing. If I remember it well, In Latin it is Ex nihilo. It is the opposite of creation out of some pre-existent in Theology.
Good write, Pax, it served as a reminder. If it is not for this write this stock knowledge would not come out. Nice, it's like magic-k.
Achieving something without doing something.
Now, what are you promoting here kabayan? is it laziness? lol.
Kidding aside, this took me back to my philosophy class long time ago... if i am not mistaken it's concept of wu wei or the action of non-action. Baka maging monk ka na nyan kabayan. lol.

this piece is inspired again when i had reviewed a poem last time.
she replied to me :Is there hope? Tell me friend, in what hope lies in you that you may inpart to me that one in the same?
then i replied:believed my friend that there is something out of nothing... no matter how many times life brings us down or I've been down or lost someone, i still believed that there is still something or someone out there that will make me happy again...
:) with all that, I'm on the road of becoming a monk, hopefully not..hehe...i like their philosophy... with all that... I'm just thinking positive... that's all to it... patience is our virtue in this harsh life.... salamat kabayan.

oh, that should be "achieving something without doing nothing."
in philo class, our professor.. read moreoh, that should be "achieving something without doing nothing."
in philo class, our professor made us write something about asian philo. one classmate, out of laziness or maybe just forgot about it, submitted a blank sheet of paper with only her name on it. when asked, she had the temerity to say "it's the we wei philo, ma'am. achieving something without doing nothing." she may had the wrong interpretation but and she got the highest grade... your quote reminded me so much of college days... thank you.
Again with the Buddhist concepts. The ground being of existence is "void" or "empty" to them. Like everything comes into existence from cause and effect by the world it inhabits but in and of itself is impermanent and void. Like you have a favorite sweater. Think of the yarn, the cotton from which that yarn came, the people who made the sweater in a factory, their parents, their parents parents, the truck that delivered the sweater to the store, the truck driver, and on and on. All of these conditions came together to deliver your favorite sweater to you which will eventually wear out and get thrown away and end up in a land fill where it will be burned. There's no ultimate sweater to cling to. You can't say "THis is it!" This is the ultimate sweater that all sweaters came from" because the sweater, like everything else in the universe arose out of cause and effect and will eventually cease to exist because it is empty. Void. Something out of nothing that will return to nothing.
