Short-Lived

Short-Lived

A Poem by Pax
"

in my eagerness to make a love poem...

"

I encase the memories you had given

I cherish the feelings we’ve shared

Life came up short-lived

Death has entwined his arms around you

I can’t untangled what fate has brought

I had crossed river boundaries

Built a bridge toward a better way

Still I end up in loose end

Why? Why must we part ways when all is okay?

I had lived-up to the depth of sadness, until you came along

And drain all its vastness into glowing warmth

I feel alive in your arms

Content of its loving embrace

…Then…

Some warm emotions are not forever meant

For us to feel each passing days of our lives

some short, some takes years

but then it will never be eternal

I guess it will always be

Short-lived

For life is too short to waste

I missed you, dearest soul

Walking in the valley of grieving

I learned to live

Living without you at arm’s reach is bearable

I cultured the days without you

To live up to be a much better man than before

You have taught me how to embrace myself

How acceptance made an impact in your dying memory

You’re my teacher, my best-friend, my lover and my wife

I can’t believe in such short time

You have healed the dying lands of my Journey

I will be forever be in your light

My path will be long

My heart had dozed its eternal slumber

Until the day we meet up again

Spirited away towards the undying heaven

The respect and admiration over a lost love as well as the longing and sadness are" heartfeltly" expressed in this piece. I could feel that sometimes our love over someone could hold us back to move on for reasons I would not know of. This beautifully sad piece could make a perfect Eulogy kabayan. Thank you for sharing.

Except for a few lines needing attention:

I’ve had crossed river boundaries ---
I had crossed river boundaries
---
Still I end up in loose end
Why? Why must we part ways when all is okay? ---
---
Still I ended up in loose end
Why must we part ways? --- as for this line --- it's your signature with --- Why? Why must we part ways...you used it in a different poem I read...with the usage of "Why"
When all is okay? ---
---
some short, some takes years ---
some short, some take years
---

this was illustrated in a heart-wrenching development of a verse...
the way you twist and turn in this one...
as with the color arrangement of the font...
takes you on a different spectrum as a reader here --- Pax...again...
this is meant to be somber...so with that...
you relish each stanza to the bitter end...

This reminds me of when my Dad passed away. I really like the structure of it as well. Lost love, whether it is a partner, parent, or friend, is one of the most difficult things to deal with. Your poem evokes just the right emotions of learning to live without them, but knowing nothing will be the same again until you are with them. Great work, and thanks for the wonderful poem.

The poem shows how to treasure love and good moments, even though we lose them. Lovely poem.

Recycling...just like me? LOL. FYI, bro. I came here in this site last January 4, 2013. And you posted this on January 5. That means, when I came here you are already that sad man. How I wish someone could help you make a happy piece.
BTW, I like the font style you used here. What's that font?

This is so emotional but well-written. Keep going!

Excellent poem. you always seem to impress me, as well as inspire me. I wish i could the same about my uncle who always thinks the world is always out to get him and then blames me for it. most of all when something breaks down because of his ignorance he expects me to either solve the problem or pay to have it fixed. it seldom comes out of his pocket. blaming me that it was my fault somehow for causing his misinformation. So when i read your poems i get inspired knowing that you build me up in so many ways.

I like how you are not angry but sad in a lost love poem. It is so hard to not be angry that someone you love is gone but you have whole there that you are not trying to fill but to just ask why it was put there. Very good piece
