In my opinion, Karma either simply is, an uncontrollable force within the universe akin to fate's hand, or it is something we create in order to justify or substantiate a motive or an action. While we may choose to believe in Karma, in the same fashion one believes in a religious doctrine, then it's effects and reasons are not tied to us at all, but the will of an all mighty force. But if we say karma is something that we create, then it is our ego speaking to bring an workable reason as to why we did something or why something happened to us.

I've done psychology research into the way people believe in justice, and it seems people have an implicit need to believe that the world is "just," that people deserve what they get, and get what they deserve. It helps us develop a moral compass by believing our actions will be fairly rewarded or punished and helps with delay of gratification, but it comes at the cost of sympathy, it sometimes seems. People implicitly blame victims, hence the low rate of rape cases that even make it to court, let alone get convictions (it's something like 6%).

I think myself of that too... in my perception the world is still balance despite the imperfection and imbalance darkness of the heart of others...
“people deserve what they get, and get what they deserve.” ~ yes I believed on that but not all the time.. that is why there is also imbalance in our community law and people itself… I say the world is such an imperfect place… and we fill the shoes of imperfection and make it a better place for us to live in… the morality of our being is still evident on our hearts, though some people create fear and spread darkness creating an imbalance of normality of the community…making some victims creep in to their insanities silence…

Hmm.. I can see your philosophical side here my friend. Everyone here is entitled to their own opinion. For we do not own the facts. Here is my take on this. Karma is true if we take out God out from the picture. God has setup His morals and standards through His Holy Word. Likewise He also instituted society to have a set of standard by which society can govern its citizens. You go on living like an outlaw and a law breaker and bad things will start to happen to you not because of Karma but as consequences of your own choices and actions. You can't break the law for sooner and later the law will break you inside the prison.

oh, very creepy sounds, but so true! I can say my believes are mixture of many cultures and religions, but I totally believe in Karma! By the way, did you watch the movie of famous Indian director Pan Nalin "Valley of flowers" (2006), it`s about karma relationships, and the way they can affect our life!

I am ify if I believe karma exists. I think bad and good things will always be bound to happen to the human race but we catagorize that as "karma" like an ivisible evil force is watchn us and waiting to pounce for payback...good saying though!:))

I don't know if we can actually observe Karma. We can and should try to earn "good" karma, and "bad" karma may crop up "in the line of duty" a Baby Ricochet points out. I do believe it's unavoidable.

Yup, its unavoidable. For me its keeps on jumping from one life to another, so you'll never know it comes just a feeling and like mr frank said we can never recognize it for what it is but just like you said maybe we can tell its a good karma or bad karma.

I think karma, good or bad, is something one has to earn. It is difficult for me ot comprehend, since I am a Presbyterian and Karma is not one of our doctrines. Although I believe in it.
