Girl Dogs Always Come Home

Girl Dogs Always Come Home

A Poem by Willow
"

A poem from Bailey Tann in my Advanced English Class

"

Upon a pile of toys

peering through a dirty pane,

we sat with hearts aching

for Lucy and Daisy.

He, more worried about

one than the other

full of assurance,

“They’ll never come back.”

“They’re gone” he said.

He talked until I’d listen,

Making each assumption

worst than the rest.

He sat impatient

Begging for agreements, arguments

anything to verify

that he, the older, wasn’t alone

I looked past the pane

and saw eight paws running,

and replied as if I’d been waiting,

“Girl dogs always come home.”
