Cheshire Smiles

Cheshire Smiles

A Poem by songstress
"

If a Cheshire can act without remorse, or excitement what is the point of fading in and out of existence. Being capricious never provided a dull moment, while Eyes of those who watched.

"
The lights dim,
and memories dissipate before rolling fogs
And yet I shiver.
I feel exposed,
and the laughter echos.
I'm still within the cavern
And even though the lights are no longer here...
still singe my mind
patterns and names

I'm muddled in my mind
And my garden, My Eden
is no longer alive,
But, locked, cast
in stone...

And...again, and again,
the whispers echo fast-
but, it's only wind,
Chiming in my head gentle remarks

About the person I was...

I disappear, or run towards the grey
hoping the fog shall devour me once more.

Lovely imagery, the flow is the stream that speaks to each in a language of nuanced staccatos, holding ones attention. A myriad of available meanings like sweet smoke, invite each traveler to follow to the level one may be willing to wander.
Though my personal opinion has no real bearing in the count of creative valuation of a work, except perhaps for me, I like this piece immensely.

This is short and elegant with very good vocabulary and imagery. I enjoyed reading it. I think the first-person point of view really helped to convey the pain in this poem. And the line "hoping the fog will devour me once more" was a great ending. When it comes to free-verse, you're probably my favorite poet on this site (you'd atleast be in my top 3). Great work.
