Heart within The Veil

Heart within The Veil

A Poem by songstress
"

this was made with regard to the idea of denial. It's a thing that can beautiful, yet rotten. To look within, it's easier to become ensnared within a sweet lie when faced the reality of hopelessness

"
I grip at the white veil,
and
it becomes decorated in roses.
However, the scent is far
from sweet.
As
it is bitter and painful.
Like saying goodbye to loved one…
it burns, and cuts
into you.
Yet,
even more starling is the smile
I bear for it.

These roses which I bear
are a token of strength,
are a token of bravery,
and
a token of my crystalline
hearts will to live.
Thus,
I tear away
from the sullied veil.
For I no longer seek
solace within
white lies
and
broken picture-framed
Smiles…

Wow!!! The emotion and tone that is in this really drived. Very well writes and relatable.

Songstress, this carries such a bittersweet feeling throughout yet ends on, at least in my mind, a high spot. I totally enjoyed everything about this poem. It feels real and a little bit abstract, which is how I see myself...well the abstract part at least. I love how this moves, fluidly, through each line. Very well done.

I'm going to tuck this one away for later reading.
