Themes become worrisome

When broached too often

Repetition breeds groans in me

Taking note

I notice the long

buildup in recent work

The narrative rises

To a crescendo

Characterizations evolve

Then suddenly depart

Out the door with no nod backward

Or a sigh

Or a yawn

Paths cross

Mix it up

People drop away

Stage right stage left

On to the next stage

Leaves me vibrating

Mind humming faster pix per second

Switching a strobe light on and off

In my padded cell

I’ve seen such rocket points

In life so often

The countdown to ignition

Then lift off

Then big bang

Then poof or whoosh or sputter

I’m dubious about abstract complacency

Like a balm wish failing

All comfort zones

Flit from book to book to...

Can’t concentrate before

Flash ideas send me back

To my drawing platform

All this coming and going

And sea change

Ripples in the lives

Of those I know

Makes me feel like a yo-yo

Spinning ups and downs...

Maybe I should head for Acapulco?

Yes this late winter

Slush is fudging my mind

I can see cogs grind behind my eyes

Time passing is the true cure

For momentary trifles

After the Tilt-a-Whirl

Stops spinning

Step from the car

All wobbly and all...

And give a back slapping welcome

To Mr. Springtime
