Amuse Hold © 2008 by Will Northerner
Wraith petals cast in a vessel Placed just so After torment in weeded meadows? No... The flower flourished In the zap Of all that pure unyielding light Raindrops tapering from leaflets Stigma style and ovary Well nourished ‘til I plucked it from mother root Knowing the nature of blossoms How they do wilt and wither and fall
I wrenched it from life To liven a room in some burnished vase Watering the remnant Only to make it’s essence Resonate as long as I might
Thoughts Migrate...
Transport a soul From some semblance of hell... Hardscrabble life on pavement Sleeping on cardboard in naked lots Cold sleep in winter missions Living on blood money Giving vein for cash For f**s and rot gut reprieve Roaming some sample of Dante’s down under Always avoiding the badge
Pluck this ramshackle soul Far from street bondage Give shelter Give sustenance Give smokes Give duds For kicks For remove From artistic blockage ‘cause said soul Had played my muse before Unleashed a torrent from locked dam works
Gave belly laughs Gave provocative stories Gave true heart
Again my mind block surged free Was all aflow again Yet more in tune More refined...
So an abused word Might suffer from my lips I might say MUSE Yes I thought deeply A muse this soul must be
Until, In his absence, I find inspirational fire Burning brighter than ever Unchecked creativity Comes more freely...
Unexpected Slow and steady Inner visions ignite
Much appreciated... As I feared the flame might dwindle Without the muse fuse I imagined he kindled
I found new inspiration Invested In me Rather than extracted From...
My imaginary
Amuse
Hold
