Love Like a Fire

Love Like a Fire

A Poem by William Fields Issac

A spark and then a flame,
A flame and then a fire,
Soon the fire a blaze became,
And the whole forest it did require,
This is the story of my heart,
From a spark love kindled and grew,
Until it consumed the outermost parts,
And consumed my soul with a love that is true.
This love is like no other,
Greater than that of a husband and wife,
That of father, child and mother,
It is the the love which gives life,
It is a selfless love,
More pure than gold,
More gentle than a dove,
Yet Stedfast and bold.
It is the love of My savior,
The love of my God,

I am reminded of the student who claimed he desired God with all his heart and soul.
Whereupon his instructor shoved his head underwater until he was kicking.
"Now, the wise teacher said, "you know what it is like to desire something with all your heart and soul."
Well done.
